SUDs Measurement (Subjective Units of Distress)
Like Muscle Testing and Body Check, SUDs is another way to find out what's going on in your subconscious. Feel free to use whichever technique resonates with you ~ if your comfortable, you'll get better results!
In this method you rate your conscious and subconscious alignment with a statement on a scale from 0 to 10 -- with 10 being the most true.
Step 1 ~ State Your Goal in the POSITIVE
Let's say your goal is to have your paintings be in art galleries around the country. You would state that (always in the positive!) and give it a SUDs rating.
That process would look something like this:
My paintings are in art galleries around the country (rather than something like: I no longer hide my paintings in my closet. That would be a negative statement. Know that you'll get a lot farther a lot faster if you get in the habit of declaring what you want, rather than what you don't want.)
Step 2 ~ Rate Your SUDs Level
Determine your level of tension towards the statement you are working on, using the 0 - 10 scale. Estimates are fine!
When you say state your goal, on a scale of 0-10, how true does it feel for you? (ex: If you feel that could never happen for you in a million years, you would rate the statement on the low end of the scale. But if you feel that that is a definite possibility for you, you would rate the statement on the higher end of the scale.)
Please understand that there are no right or wrong answers. Every answer is just information. You'll never know how far you've come if you don't know where you started!
The point to remember here is that you don't have to intellectualize it, if you are not sure then simply guess. Because in almost every case you will be fairly close to the mark.
Step 3 ~ Get That SUDs Level Up As High As Possible!
Once you get this base mark SUDs rating, we work together to identify the limiting beliefs &/or traumas that are blocking your ability to rate your statement at an 8 or higher.
The higher your SUDs rating gets, the more in alignment your conscious and subconscious are, the higher the chances of you making that statement true for you in your life.
